Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristi Iosif got free with Cornel Bitanu in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Horia Măgurean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Edgar Borcea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Horia Măgurean in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edgar Borcea saved Mataraua CF from getting behind. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 15th minute, but Cornel Bitanu got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Ghirdoveni UFC hanging dry this time. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Neacșu in the 18th minute of play forced Ghirdoveni UFC's goalkeeper Cornel Bitanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute of the match Ilie Găină sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edgar Borcea skillfully saved the ball. Edgar Borcea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horia Măgurean in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Daniel Neacșu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cornel Bitanu. The goal made the score 1-0. If Cristi Iosif had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgar Borcea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Constantin Văcăroiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, Ghirdoveni UFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristi Iosif came free, but Cornel Bitanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Ghirdoveni UFC defense, Cristi Iosif kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cornel Bitanu. The Ghirdoveni UFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornel Bitanu should have stopped the shot. When Mataraua CF's Cristi Iosif in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Mataraua CF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Constantin Văcăroiu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Daniel Neacșu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Ghirdoveni UFC's zone, Daniel Neacșu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornel Bitanu came out of the goal and Daniel Neacșu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mataraua CF had played much better football throughout.
