In the 22nd match minute, Ghirdoveni UFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilian Postelnicescu to maneuver through the defense. Dragoş Buzea's late challenge caught a Ghirdoveni UFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dragoş Buzea helped the player get up and apologised. In the 43rd minute, Ilie Găină sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Steaua FCS's Cornel Biriș didn't even have to move.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Constantin Văcăroiu was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Claudiu Pitiș made a precise shot to the right of Cornel Bitanu. Ghirdoveni UFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 62nd minute of the match Nicodim Gheție sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cornel Biriș skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcel Şerb during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The corner led Ghirdoveni UFC's Ilie Găină to fire away a dangerous shot which Cornel Biriș despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 90th minute of the match, Claudiu Pitiș got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cornel Bitanu was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Dragoş Buzea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95thth minute of the game Gică Gâlcă who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ghirdoveni UFC's Cornel Bitanu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
