The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute of the match, Emil Dima tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Iustinian Olariu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. A collision led to Buesti AS getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Romeo Ghioncu hit a great ball. When Leonard Arotăriței fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Buesti AS's protests and gave Leonard Arotăriței a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 9 minutes, Eliodor Curăreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tupsani's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliodor Curăreanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Tupsani booed when Buesti AS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiberiu Odobescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute of the match Eliodor Curăreanu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Toader Botescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Emil Dima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iustinian Olariu having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Emil Dima's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iustinian Olariu was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 20th minute Emil Dima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iustinian Olariu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Tupsani's Laurențiu Arnăutu got a free kick in the 21st minute. Emil Dima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 26 minutes into the match, Tupsani's goal looked a bit too open when Emil Dima came free, but Iustinian Olariu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Emil Dima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Tupsani's zone, Emil Dima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iustinian Olariu came out of the goal and Emil Dima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emil Dima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iustinian Olariu having to interfere. Buesti AS's Aron Aursulesei got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Cătălin Maior kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. If Emil Dima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Toader Botescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laurențiu Arnăutu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Emil Dima left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Buesti AS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Emil Dima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iustinian Olariu having to interfere. Emil Dima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iustinian Olariu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Dima in the 89th minute of play forced Tupsani's goalkeeper Iustinian Olariu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Emil Dima came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Buesti AS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emil Dima couldn't finish the play. Emil Dima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
