Cazimir Mareș was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Șerban Petre showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 26 minute of play. When Șerban Petre fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merisoru SC's protests and gave Șerban Petre a yellow card for diving instead. Șerban Petre kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Șerban Petre struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Cazimir Mareș didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merisoru SC. In the 39th minute, Claudiu Onciu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alin Trişcu hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurențiu Caciulescu in the 44th minute of play forced Merisoru SC's goalkeeper Lucrețiu Encuțu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute, Moise Rioşanu made a precise shot to the right of Lucrețiu Encuțu. Merisoru SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Șerban Petre to strike the kick off in the second half. The Girbovi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cazimir Mareș should have stopped the shot. In the 57th match minute, Girbovi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horea Nestor to maneuver through the defense. After 65 played minutes Merisoru SC got a freekick which was hit by Olimpiu Tonegaru. In the 67th minute Șerban Petre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cazimir Mareș saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Moise Rioşanu came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Girbovi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moise Rioşanu couldn't finish the play. In the 73rd match minute, Merisoru SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisc Oproiu to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 75 minutes, Claudiu Onciu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Merisoru SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudiu Onciu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Moise Rioşanu took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Lucrețiu Encuțu to make any attempt to save it. If Claudiu Onciu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudiu Onciu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cazimir Mareș having to interfere. Lucian Burileanu kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Despite being the better team, Merisoru SC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
