When Iustinian Albescu fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gologanul's protests and gave Iustinian Albescu a yellow card for diving instead. Iustinian Albescu hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Cristinel Curuțiu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 6th playminute. 12 minutes into the game, Răzvan Goma cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Iustinian Pătru was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cristinel Curuțiu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Cezar Nedelcea made a huge save. Traian Volosin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cezar Nedelcea having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Costel Cămătaru came free, but Iustinian Pătru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iustinian Pătru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filip Udrişte in the 37th minute of the match. The supporters of Gologanul booed when U Craiova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasile Zaharia didn't get a good kick on the ball. U Craiova's Traian Volosin got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristinel Curuțiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristinel Curuțiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cezar Nedelcea. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristinel Curuțiu ran back to his position shaking his head. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cristinel Curuțiu to strike the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes Gologanul's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Martin Videanu who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Gologanul's Răzvan Goma got a free kick in the 55th minute. U Craiova's Traian Volosin got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute, Filip Udrişte fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Iustinian Pătru, passed just outside the right post. 64 minutes into the game, Alin Gugulanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gologanul's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U Craiova the free kick. Alin Gugulanu hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Iustinian Pătru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filip Udrişte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Costel Cămătaru came free with the goalkeeper in the 70th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Iustinian Pătru could save by the left post. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gologanul's goalkeeper Cezar Nedelcea, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the U Craiova players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
