George Pavalescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the match, Toporul CF's Dorel Dridu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that George Pavalescu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Damian Bârsan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 10thth minute tested the skills of George Pavalescu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Iulian Bunescu kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the game, Filip Băsescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ogretinu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Toporul CF the free kick. A collision led to Ogretinu getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. In the 20th minute Iordache Banu suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the field. Eugen Latarețu charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eugen Latarețu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dorel Dridu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Pavalescu having to interfere. Narcis Mitică hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Moise Apetroaiei managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ogretinu's supporters rose to their feet, but Moise Apetroaiei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgil Corcoveanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Damian Bârsan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The wind increased when Moise Apetroaiei made the kick off in the second half. George Pavalescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugen Latarețu, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Moise Apetroaiei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgil Corcoveanu having to interfere. George Pavalescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorel Dridu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute Dorel Dridu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Pavalescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Damian Bârsan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. George Pavalescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Bârsan in the 69th minute of the match. After 70 played minutes Ogretinu got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Vrabie. Moise Apetroaiei in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Virgil Corcoveanu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Moise Apetroaiei received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Damian Bârsan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but George Pavalescu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. Toporul CF succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ogretinu had controlled the match.
