Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Fc Steaua's Iordache Gorjanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicu Neguțu in the 7th minute of play. When Matulesti's Nistor Cristache in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Fc Steaua's goalie prevented a goal. 14 minutes into the match, Fc Steaua's goal looked a bit too open when Aurelian Burileanu came free, but Iordache Gorjanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iordache Gorjanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicu Neguțu in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Nistor Cristache had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iordache Gorjanu. Fc Steaua's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nistor Cristache was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Alexandru Măguran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Dumitru Ghionaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Fc Steaua defense, Nistor Cristache kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iordache Gorjanu. The Fc Steaua fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iordache Gorjanu should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Fc Steaua booed when Matulesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nistor Cristache didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 34th minute, Aurelian Burileanu made a precise shot to the right of Iordache Gorjanu. Fc Steaua's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Emilian Schiau who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Dumitru Ghionaru when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 43 minutes of play, Matulesti's Nicu Neguțu made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iordache Gorjanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Iordache Gorjanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nistor Cristache in the 48th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nistor Cristache to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Emilian Schiau had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dumitru Ghionaru. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilian Schiau in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dumitru Ghionaru saved Matulesti from getting behind. Iordache Gorjanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicu Neguțu in the 60th minute. Nicu Neguțu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Iordache Gorjanu made a huge save. In the 62nd minute, Emilian Schiau made a precise shot to the right of Dumitru Ghionaru. Matulesti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. Fc Steaua's Alexandru Măguran managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Sever Tatu in the 66 minute of the game. 68 minutes into the game, Aurelian Burileanu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Iordache Gorjanu. Aurelian Burileanu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-5. A collision led to Matulesti getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Aurelian Burileanu hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emilian Schiau in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dumitru Ghionaru prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee felt a red card was in order, 77 minutes into the game, when Sorin Anastasiu put in a rough tackle. 76 minutes into the game, one of Fc Steaua:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 83rd minute Nicu Neguțu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iordache Gorjanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mihai Godeanu kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Dumitru Ghionaru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Greculescu in the 87th minute of play. Fc Steaua's attentive Alexandru Măguran managed to snatch the ball when Sever Tatu made a throw-in in the 93rd minute of the game. Alin Teodor struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Dumitru Ghionaru didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fc Steaua. Iordache Gorjanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicu Neguțu in the 98th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aurelian Burileanu got free with Iordache Gorjanu in the 99th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Matulesti had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
