Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Parau's Iustinian Gogu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Petrică Gurzău stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Valer Leluțiu's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Petrică Gurzău took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valer Leluțiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Valer Leluțiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olimpiu Hurmuz in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petrică Gurzău saved Parau from getting behind. After having played for 15 minutes, Olimpiu Hurmuz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baia Mare United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olimpiu Hurmuz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nae Șora took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Petrică Gurzău. Parau's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Baia Mare United's zone, Radu Pogea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alin Jder came out of the goal and Radu Pogea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 28th minute, Cristinel Târban hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute Valer Leluțiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petrică Gurzău saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tudor Capătă got free with Alin Jder in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iustinian Gogu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alin Jder having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The Parau fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Parau's Tudor Capătă looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valer Leluțiu in the 65th minute of play forced Parau's goalkeeper Petrică Gurzău to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Baia Mare United getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Marcu Chificeac hit a great ball. Tudor Capătă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Parau's Pompiliu Orghidan got a free kick in the 76th minute. After having played for 77 minutes, Valer Leluțiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baia Mare United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valer Leluțiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alin Jder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tudor Capătă in the 79th minute of the match. Olimpiu Hurmuz might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petrică Gurzău. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olimpiu Hurmuz ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet as Baia Mare United's Valer Leluțiu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Petrică Gurzău. That made the score 1-1 after 83 minutes of play. Olimpiu Hurmuz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
