The supporters of Gandesti booed when Steaua FC Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Horia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gandesti's Daniel Donciu got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Donciu in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marian Popoiu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Steaua FC Iasi's zone, Tiberiu Marina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marian Popoiu came out of the goal and Tiberiu Marina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute, Daniel Donciu made a precise shot to the right of Marian Popoiu. Steaua FC Iasi's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 21 minutes into the match, Steaua FC Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Donciu came free, but Marian Popoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Gandesti's goal looked a bit too open when Vasile Colin came free, but Adam Brădean reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute Daniel Donciu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marian Popoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiberiu Marina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Donciu's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Marian Popoiu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A hard shot 32 in the game by Daniel Donciu from a close distance when the talented Marian Popoiu managed to make a qualified save. Steaua FC Iasi's players were relieved. Daniel Donciu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Marian Popoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Adrian Stolniceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gandesti's supporters rose to their feet, but Adrian Stolniceanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marian Popoiu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Daniel Donciu put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Marian Popoiu. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ionel Manolescu made a kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Răzvan Hrib managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gandesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Răzvan Hrib was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marian Popoiu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Donciu went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Daniel Donciu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marian Popoiu was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. Marian Popoiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Donciu's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. Daniel Donciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 66thth minute of the game Daniel Donciu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Steaua FC Iasi's Marian Popoiu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Gandesti fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Gandesti's Daniel Donciu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 70th minute, Francisc Dinculescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 played minutes, Gandesti's Andrei Novac shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marian Popoiu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gandesti reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Donciu in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marian Popoiu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marian Popoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Donciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steaua FC Iasi's Marian Popoiu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Donciu in the 83rd minute of play. Adam Brădean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ionel Manolescu in the 87th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Steaua FC Iasi's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Donciu came free, but Marian Popoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andrei Novac fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marian Popoiu having to interfere. Marian Popoiu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Donciu's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasile Colin got free with Adam Brădean in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gandesti's Adam Brădean proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to save Gandesti from getting a goal against them. There was no doubt that Gandesti were the better team. Gandesti's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
