Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Toader Șipoș made the kick off and thus started the match. 3 minutes into the match, Sporting FC's goalkeeper Valentin Fințescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ilie Encescu. Ionică Bulgar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Manole Jilăveanu went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Ionică Bulgar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manole Jilăveanu in the 8th minute of play. Ionică Bulgar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manole Jilăveanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 14 played minutes Sporting FC got a freekick which was hit by Costică Voicu. Emil Miclescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 23 played minutes Iustin Iureș rounded Sporting FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Sporting FC's Valentin Fințescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Văidianu in the 27th minute of play. Ilie Encescu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 37th playminute. Ionică Bulgar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dacian Tolea in the 44th minute of the match. Valentin Fințescu made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Ilie Encescu sent off a good shot on target. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 52nd minute, Ilie Encescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Petrolul Ploiesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Valentin Fințescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iustin Iureș, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute, Ilie Encescu made a precise shot to the right of Valentin Fințescu. Sporting FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. 62 minutes into the match, FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goal looked a bit too open when Toader Șipoș came free, but Ionică Bulgar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Petrolul Ploiesti's Ionică Bulgar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save FC Petrolul Ploiesti from getting a goal against them. After having played for 64 minutes, Iustin Iureș managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Petrolul Ploiesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iustin Iureș was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toader Șipoș in the 66th minute of play forced FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goalkeeper Ionică Bulgar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ilie Encescu came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the FC Petrolul Ploiesti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ilie Encescu couldn't finish the play. Alex Tatulici struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Valentin Fințescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Petrolul Ploiesti. Alex Tatulici blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valentin Fințescu having to make a save. Ilie Encescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valentin Fințescu having to interfere. After some careless play in the Sporting FC defense, Ilie Encescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valentin Fințescu. The Sporting FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valentin Fințescu should have stopped the shot. In the 86th match minute, Sporting FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narcis Şimoc to maneuver through the defense. In the 87th match minute, FC Petrolul Ploiesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavius Varga to maneuver through the defense. Narcis Şimoc took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ionică Bulgar. FC Petrolul Ploiesti's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
