Niculae Lupulescu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 36th minute Codruț Cimpoieru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niculae Lupulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 38 in the game by Leontin Albu from a close distance when the talented Niculae Lupulescu managed to make a qualified save. Viitorul Vaslui's players were relieved. After having played for 40 minutes, Leontin Albu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Biharia CF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leontin Albu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tudor Petrin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcu Brezeanu in the 41st minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Codruț Cimpoieru kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Niculae Lupulescu. That made the score 2-0 in the 45 minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Codruț Cimpoieru couldn't finish the play. Niculae Lupulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Codruț Cimpoieru in the 68th minute of the match. Marcu Brezeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tudor Petrin having to interfere. After some careless play in the Biharia CF defense, Marcu Brezeanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tudor Petrin. The Biharia CF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tudor Petrin should have stopped the shot. In the 82nd minute, Codruț Cimpoieru ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal.
