Ciprian Tătăruşanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Căliman in the 8th minute of play. Fc.Steaua's attentive Damian Prunaru managed to snatch the ball when Ernest Gabor made a throw-in in the 12th minute of the game. Jorge Henrich could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Niculae Lupulescu made a huge save. The supporters of Viitorul Vaslui booed when Fc.Steaua was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Prunaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Fc.Steaua getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Pavel Duldurescu hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Henrich in the 26th minute of play forced Viitorul Vaslui's goalkeeper Niculae Lupulescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorge Henrich in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niculae Lupulescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Fc.Steaua's zone, Marcu Brezeanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciprian Tătăruşanu came out of the goal and Marcu Brezeanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Damian Prunaru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Niculae Lupulescu made a huge save. 42 minutes into the game, Marcu Brezeanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Viitorul Vaslui's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fc.Steaua the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Damian Prunaru during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Moise Luican made the kick off in the second half. Niculae Lupulescu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jorge Henrich went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. In the 58th minute, Jorge Henrich got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Fc.Steaua's Jorge Henrich in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Niculae Lupulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Henrich, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Viitorul Vaslui's zone, Jorge Henrich stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niculae Lupulescu came out of the goal and Jorge Henrich tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lucrețiu Teişanu took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciprian Tătăruşanu. Ciprian Tătăruşanu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. After some careless play in the Viitorul Vaslui defense, Jorge Henrich kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Niculae Lupulescu. The Viitorul Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Niculae Lupulescu should have stopped the shot. Fc.Steaua's Ciprian Tătăruşanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Denis Căliman in the 96th minute of play. Fc.Steaua's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
