Vintilă Măgherușan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mircea Ţirpescu having to interfere. If Vintilă Măgherușan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gigi Stoicănescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uncesti. After 18 played minutes Uncesti got a freekick which was hit by Eliodor Frâncu. When Emilian Dragoș came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Toplita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emilian Dragoș couldn't finish the play. Emilian Dragoș received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Mircea Ţirpescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dorel Doicaru hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Uncesti's Eugen Muncelean tried to score from far away in the 26th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute of the match Calistrat Doroftei shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gigi Stoicănescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marius Feraru during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Toplita's Marius Feraru got a free kick in the 34th minute. Francisc Miu hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Gigi Stoicănescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandu Răducu in the 43rd minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vintilă Măgherușan was the one to do the kick off. Gigi Stoicănescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandu Răducu in the 56th minute of the match. Toplita's Gigi Stoicănescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sandu Răducu in the 59th minute of play. If Matei Bute had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Uncesti's zone, Emilian Dragoș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mircea Ţirpescu came out of the goal and Emilian Dragoș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th minute Matei Bute shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigi Stoicănescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dorel Doicaru hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. The Uncesti fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when Uncesti's Sandu Răducu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Marius Feraru was shown his second yellow card after 91 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 92 played minutes Toplita got a freekick which was hit by Marius Feraru. The supporters of Uncesti booed when Toplita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cătălin Brădescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matei Bute struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Gigi Stoicănescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uncesti. For all the effort they put into the match, the Toplita players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Uncesti.
