A hard shot by Doru Fulga from long distance, 8 minutes into the match, got Viorel Moșneanu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Van Persia succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 11th playminute. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Gică Dobrinescu took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Viorel Moșneanu to make any attempt to save it. If Gică Dobrinescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Van Persia made a precise shot to the right of Viorel Moșneanu. FC Dya Bucuresti's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Viorel Moșneanu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Van Persia in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the game, FC Universitatea Craiova's Van Persia nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Viorel Moșneanu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 38 minutes into the match, Van Persia notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of FC Dya Bucuresti's Viorel Moșneanu. Viorel Moșneanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Van Persia's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Viorel Moșneanu firmly grabbed it by the left post. Marian Mârzac's late challenge caught a FC Universitatea Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marian Mârzac helped the player get up and apologised. Van Persia came free with the goalkeeper in the 47th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Viorel Moșneanu could save by the left post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Dumitru Buricea made the kick off in the second half. The referee felt a red card was in order, 52 minutes into the game, when Narcis Bornescu put in a rough tackle. FC Universitatea Craiova's Dorin Gliga proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save FC Universitatea Craiova from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Gică Dobrinescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Universitatea Craiova's supporters rose to their feet, but Gică Dobrinescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Viorel Moșneanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute, Valentin Rada left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Dya Bucuresti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Viorel Moșneanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gică Dobrinescu in the 63rd minute of play. After 75 minutes of play, FC Universitatea Craiova's Gică Dobrinescu made it 7-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Viorel Moșneanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Viorel Moșneanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gică Dobrinescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Gică Dobrinescu notched a goal, 8-1, to the right of FC Dya Bucuresti's Viorel Moșneanu. Viorel Moșneanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 84 minutes into the game, FC Dya Bucuresti's Valentin Rada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dorin Gliga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-2. In the 88th minute, Gică Dobrinescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Denis Golescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Viorel Moșneanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Denis Golescu ran back to his position shaking his head. Dorin Gliga came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Dya Bucuresti's Marian Mârzac. But to his dismay, Marian Mârzac quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-3. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Universitatea Craiova had played much better football throughout.
