The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicu Zberea got free with Laurențiu Velicu in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 53rdth minute of the game Nicu Zberea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Untarei's Laurențiu Velicu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 55th minute of the match Valentin Potopea sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laurențiu Velicu skillfully saved the ball. Laurențiu Velicu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicu Zberea, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 59 minutes, Gigel Ianculescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Untarei and the Republica Ploiești players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Republica Ploiești getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Costică Codrea hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Untarei's zone, Nicu Zberea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurențiu Velicu came out of the goal and Nicu Zberea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 82 minutes, Lucian Luțu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Republica Ploiești's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucian Luțu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The attack was good, but when Nicu Zberea in the 86th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 88 minutes into the match, Nicu Zberea had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laurențiu Velicu. Untarei's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicu Zberea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Lucian Luțu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurențiu Velicu having to interfere.
