Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gică Vaida started the match with the kick off. Maxim Istrăteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Frențiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of balaur FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Merii FCM:s goal. Mihail Frențiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxim Istrăteanu having to interfere. Maxim Istrăteanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Perișoară, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mihail Frențiu in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Maxim Istrăteanu saved balaur FC from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horea Horațiu during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Merii FCM fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Merii FCM's Mihail Frențiu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 28 minutes into the match, balaur FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mihail Frențiu came free, but Maxim Istrăteanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mihail Frențiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maxim Istrăteanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the game, Pompiliu Brășneanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Maxim Istrăteanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Pompiliu Brășneanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mihail Frențiu struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Maxim Istrăteanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merii FCM. In the 46th minute Răzvan Baba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mugur Crețu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emilian Bulcă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxim Istrăteanu having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mihail Frențiu to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Mihail Frențiu made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. balaur FC's Maxim Istrăteanu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 65th minute Horea Horațiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mugur Crețu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mircea Perișoară could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Maxim Istrăteanu made a huge save. Șerban Oloieru's late challenge caught a Merii FCM's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Șerban Oloieru helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, balaur FC's Șerban Oloieru got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Horea Horațiu kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in balaur FC's zone, Mihail Frențiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maxim Istrăteanu came out of the goal and Mihail Frențiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
