Mugur Crețu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathieu Bürgler, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Viorel Negrescu hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the match, Mathieu Bürgler notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Merii FCM's Mugur Crețu. Mugur Crețu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th match minute, F.C. Academy Steaua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cazimir Encica to maneuver through the defense. Mugur Crețu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathieu Bürgler in the 23rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tudor Ioviță during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tudor Ioviță kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Mugur Crețu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Ungur, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. When Mădălin Caramitru fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. Academy Steaua's protests and gave Mădălin Caramitru a yellow card for diving instead. Cristian Costescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihail Frențiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Ungur recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 44 played minutes Merii FCM got a freekick which was hit by Iustin Beraru. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Cazimir Encica managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C. Academy Steaua's supporters rose to their feet, but Cazimir Encica was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mugur Crețu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Mugur Crețu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for F.C. Academy Steaua. In the 62nd match minute, F.C. Academy Steaua was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Movileanu to maneuver through the defense. Merii FCM's Mugur Crețu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Merii FCM from getting a goal against them. Merii FCM's Mugur Crețu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Ungur in the 73rd minute of play. Cristian Costescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihail Frențiu in the 77th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Merii FCM's zone, Emanuel Ungur stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mugur Crețu came out of the goal and Emanuel Ungur tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Merii FCM's Mugur Crețu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Ungur in the 83rd minute of play. In the 87th minute, Cazimir Encica reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Mugur Crețu. The goal made the score 0-2. Cazimir Encica could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Mugur Crețu made a huge save. With an all-out effort, F.C. Academy Steaua's Mugur Crețu threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emanuel Ungur, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched F.C. Academy Steaua eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
