The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Petre Brânza hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Mircea Goma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiberiu Săndulescu having to interfere. Tiberiu Săndulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Goma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Dinamo Buzau's Tiberiu Săndulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marin Rizescu in the 18th minute of play. Marin Rizescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiberiu Săndulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marin Rizescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 26 minutes, Niculae Burileanu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Dinamo Buzau and the Soimu players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 26th minute, Niculae Burileanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Dinamo Buzau's goalkeeper Tiberiu Săndulescu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Mircea Goma got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Augustin Ştoia took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ferdinand Buznea to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of FC Dinamo Buzau:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Soimu:s goal. The referee gave Soimu a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marcu Sima, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Dinamo Buzau's Tiberiu Săndulescu. 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Augustin Ştoia was the one to do the kick off. FC Dinamo Buzau's Tiberiu Săndulescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marin Rizescu in the 51st minute of play. Soimu's Marin Rizescu got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mircea Gomas short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Tiberiu Săndulescu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 1-2 became the score in the 58th minute when Mircea Goma elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Ferdinand Buznea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augustin Ştoia in the 61st minute of play. In the 63rd minute Marin Rizescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiberiu Săndulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, FC Dinamo Buzau's Tiberiu Săndulescu got control of the ball when Mircea Goma tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marin Rizescu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tiberiu Săndulescu having to make a save. Tiberiu Săndulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marin Rizescu in the 75th minute of the match. Augustin Ştoia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferdinand Buznea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Augustin Ştoia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Marin Rizescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Soimu's supporters rose to their feet, but Marin Rizescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiberiu Săndulescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tiberiu Săndulescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marin Rizescu in the 94th minute of the match. Marin Rizescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Tiberiu Săndulescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Soimu could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Dinamo Buzau throughout the match.
