PHOENIX BUCURESTI's Augustin Coroian suffered a sore thigh after 24 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Avram Loghin during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 25 played minutes Speranta Sibiu got a freekick which was hit by Avram Loghin. After having played for 43 minutes, Emanuel Datcu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Speranta Sibiu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Datcu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Horia Rizescu in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Șerban Bărănescu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 59 minutes into the game, one of Speranta Sibiu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Horia Rizescu in the 63rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Șerban Bărănescu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Șerban Bărănescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horia Rizescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vasile Arsene recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mihnea Sorin kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Horia Rizescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Șerban Bărănescu made a huge save. When Horia Rizescu fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX BUCURESTI's protests and gave Horia Rizescu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to PHOENIX BUCURESTI getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Horia Rizescu hit a great ball. PHOENIX BUCURESTI were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
