The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Reea's Emanuel Enătescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilie Zegreanu in the 3rd minute of play. Athletic Club Brasov's Ştefan Iovanovici played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nichifor Crăciun in the 8th minute of play. Laurențiu Macovei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ştefan Iovanovici having to interfere. Moise Grindeanu's late challenge caught a Reea's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Nichifor Crăciun took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ştefan Iovanovici to make any attempt to save it. Doru Beșleaga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Ştefan Iovanovici tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Athletic Club Brasov getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Pavel Bârsan hit a great ball. Nichifor Crăciun who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Ştefan Iovanovici when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Nistor Morozan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nichifor Crăciun to make the kick off. Marcu Frențiu charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcu Frențiu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 52 played minutes Athletic Club Brasov got a freekick which was hit by Marcu Frențiu. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Nichifor Crăciun put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ştefan Iovanovici. After a rather tough play, Reea's Nicu Cercelescu got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After recieving a nice pass, Athletic Club Brasov's Eugen Condrea tried to score from far away in the 63rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 66 minutes into the game, one of Reea:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 68th minute there was a penalty for Athletic Club Brasov. Eugen Condrea stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Emanuel Enătescu. 2-1. The audience was convinced that Nichifor Crăciun's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ştefan Iovanovici was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. When Nichifor Crăciun came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Reea fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nichifor Crăciun couldn't finish the play. Pompiliu Curcă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Ştefan Iovanovici tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nichifor Crăciun in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ştefan Iovanovici saved Athletic Club Brasov from getting behind. Pompiliu Curcă's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ştefan Iovanovici read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Nistor Morozan's late challenge caught a Athletic Club Brasov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Pompiliu Curcă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcu Frențiu was shown his second yellow card after 97 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Marcu Frențiu kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. In the 98th minute, Nichifor Crăciun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
