In the 9thth minute of the game Liviu Luțu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Young Boys Sibiu's Eric Mischie was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Young Boys Sibiu's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ionică Lupoi was slow to take the kick. During this time Soimeni CS's players had a chance to rest. 17 minutes into the game, Liviu Luțu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eric Mischie. Liviu Luțu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Soimeni CS's Ionel Nestor got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Romeo Şuteu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Eric Mischie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stelian Zotincă during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Soimeni CS's Stelian Zotincă got a free kick in the 29th minute. Aristide Ghiță stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vlad Ilieș's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Eric Mischie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liviu Luțu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Ionel Nestor fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Ionel Nestor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ionel Nestor got free with Eric Mischie in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucrețiu Albu to make the kick off. Vlad Ilieș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Liviu Luțu put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Eric Mischie. Liviu Luțu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eric Mischie having to make a save. A collision led to Young Boys Sibiu getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Iosif Pandele hit a great ball. Mircea Taşcău kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Liviu Luțu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Iosif Pandele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aristide Ghiță having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ionel Nestor in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eric Mischie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ionel Nestor scored 4-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eric Mischie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Soimeni CS's Ionel Nestor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eric Mischie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the Young Boys Sibiu defense, Liviu Luțu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eric Mischie. The Young Boys Sibiu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eric Mischie should have stopped the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Soimeni CS had played much better football throughout.
