Ştefan Mitu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mircea Aurelianu during the 21st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Cezar Ghelmegean managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mezocsavas's supporters rose to their feet, but Cezar Ghelmegean was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ştefan Mitu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mircea Scorţea made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eliodor Țepeluș in the 29th minute. When Mircea Aurelianu was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 30 minutes had been played. 32 minutes into the match, Mezocsavas's goalkeeper Mircea Scorţea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moise Drâmbă. After 32 minutes, Sebastian Cărtărescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mezocsavas and the Poli Timisoara players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mircea Scorţea was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Cristian Gaiță fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mircea Scorţea having to interfere. Mircea Scorţea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Gaiță in the 66th minute of the match. 72 minutes into the match, Mezocsavas's goal looked a bit too open when Sabin Rioşanu came free, but Mircea Scorţea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Poli Timisoara's Martin Enciulescu got his second yellow card of the match in the 75th minute. The referee ordered Martin Enciulescu off the ground. Mircea Scorţea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sabin Rioşanu's shot from short distance in the 78th minute.
