An unexpectedly hard shot by Manole Tomescu in the 46th minute of play forced Tipau's goalkeeper Ionică Plopan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pompiliu Maghear prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 97 minutes into the game, Luca Gologan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universitatea Cluj's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tipau the free kick. Luca Gologan kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. There was no doubt that Tipau were the better team. Tipau's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
