With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rareș Liviu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Lucian Pânzaru managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.c ఒలింపియ's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucian Pânzaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rareș Liviu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 42 minutes into the game, Nicu Dragoș recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Matei Gănescu. Nicu Dragoș showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Matei Gănescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mircea Gogea, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Matei Gănescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Gogea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If George Purcaru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lucian Pânzaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Rareș Liviu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
