Anton Bianu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcu Cernea in the 6th minute of play. In the 9th minute Gustave Adrien shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristinel Zăraşcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. CFR Cluj's Cristinel Zăraşcu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save CFR Cluj from getting a goal against them. Tom Baker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Cristinel Zăraşcu made a huge save. Cristinel Zăraşcu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustave Adrien, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Gustave Adrien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Cristinel Zăraşcu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Tom Baker managed to get in a good position for a shot. Monastirea AC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tom Baker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristinel Zăraşcu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mugur Crâșmaru hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute of the match, Gustave Adrien tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cristinel Zăraşcu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Tom Baker came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Monastirea AC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tom Baker couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Monastirea AC booed when CFR Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugur Crâșmaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustave Adrien's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristinel Zăraşcu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After some careless play in the CFR Cluj defense, Tom Baker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cristinel Zăraşcu. The CFR Cluj fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cristinel Zăraşcu should have stopped the shot. Mugur Crâșmaru kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Alexandru Durbac made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florin Roşu got free with Anton Bianu in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 54th minute, Alexandru Durbac reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Anton Bianu. The goal made the score 1-1. Valentin Aliuta charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After 68 minutes, Marcu Cernea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CFR Cluj and the Monastirea AC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Monastirea AC booed when CFR Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcu Cernea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 71st minute Gustave Adrien shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristinel Zăraşcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristinel Zăraşcu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Baker in the 75th minute of the match. Tom Baker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristinel Zăraşcu having to interfere. Cristinel Zăraşcu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustave Adrien in the 79th minute of play. Monastirea AC's Anton Bianu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Monastirea AC from getting a goal against them. 88 minutes into the match, CFR Cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Tom Baker came free, but Cristinel Zăraşcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristinel Zăraşcu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tom Baker in the 90th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in CFR Cluj's zone, Tom Baker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristinel Zăraşcu came out of the goal and Tom Baker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tom Baker blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristinel Zăraşcu having to make a save. Chants of CFR Cluj echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Monastirea AC had held the ball for most of the match.
