Dumitru Petrulean's late challenge caught a Vanjulet's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dumitru Petrulean helped the player get up and apologised. In the 13th minute, Dumitru Petrulean hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the match, Vanjulet's Leonard Jucu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eugen Apostolescu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gigi Albeanu in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eugen Apostolescu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Gigi Albeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Vanjulet's zone, Emilian Rada stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Zgondea came out of the goal and Emilian Rada tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, Emilian Rada left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cotatcu SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Gelu Ciociu kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Gigi Albeanu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eugen Apostolescu having to make a save. In the 43rd minute Damian Gheban shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Zgondea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Gelu Ciociu notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Vanjulet's Paul Zgondea. Paul Zgondea was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
