Ovidiu Şumălan started the match with the kick off. Nicodim Caranfil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Geambașu in the 5th minute of play. After some careless play in the Cernavoda SC defense, Eric Geambașu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicodim Caranfil. The Cernavoda SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicodim Caranfil should have stopped the shot. Ovidiu Şumălan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosmin Pască having to interfere. Cernavoda SC's Nae Moga got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Mirtesti CF's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Nae Moga fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ovidiu Şumălan in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cosmin Pască prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Emanuel Conta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nicodim Caranfil tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Geambașu in the 43rd minute of play forced Cernavoda SC's goalkeeper Nicodim Caranfil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute Eric Geambașu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Caranfil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emanuel Conta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Mirtesti CF's Eric Geambașu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicodim Caranfil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 55 minutes into the game, Adrian Cobzeanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cernavoda SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mirtesti CF the free kick. A collision led to Cernavoda SC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Adrian Cobzeanu hit a great ball. Emanuel Conta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicodim Caranfil having to interfere. Ovidiu Şumălan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Cernavoda SC's Nicodim Caranfil got control of the ball when Eric Geambașu tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 74th minute Ovidiu Şumălan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosmin Pască saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cosmin Pască made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ovidiu Şumălan in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nae Moga in the 81st minute of play forced Mirtesti CF's goalkeeper Cosmin Pască to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nae Moga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Mirtesti CF getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Iurie Manciulea hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Ovidiu Şumălan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cosmin Pască was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. The Cernavoda SC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mirtesti CF's performance. The match ended with a win for Mirtesti CF.
