Ciughes's Nichifor Maghear quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bageni FC's goalkeeper Andrei Mihălțan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Stoican in the 13th minute of play forced Ciughes's goalkeeper Ilie Domnescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Bageni FC defense, Eugen Tudoran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Andrei Mihălțan. The Bageni FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Andrei Mihălțan should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, Ciughes's Ilie Domnescu got control of the ball when Ovidiu Bîlbă tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 32nd minute Sabin Valerian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilie Domnescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mihai Sfârlea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrei Mihălțan having to interfere. Ionică Feteanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrei Mihălțan having to interfere. Andrei Mihălțan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eugen Tudoran's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. In the 42nd match minute, Bageni FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manole Siclovan to maneuver through the defense. The Bageni FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ciughes were winning 0-2.

Eric Jivulescu made in the 52nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Ciughes's Ionică Feteanu. The throw-in from Eric Jivulescu in the 54th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Ciughes's Ernest Antipa. Eugen Tudoran struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Andrei Mihălțan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ciughes. In the 58th match minute, Bageni FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrei Marghescu to maneuver through the defense. Mihai Sfârlea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ilie Domnescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sabin Valerian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciughes's Ilie Domnescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ovidiu Bîlbă in the 64th minute of play. Andrei Mihălțan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Tudoran in the 71st minute of play. After having played for 72 minutes, Sabin Panaite managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ciughes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabin Panaite was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ilie Domnescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ovidiu Bîlbă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tudor Prezan kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After 78 played minutes, Bageni FC's Dinu Mitu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ilie Domnescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bageni FC reached it. The supporters of Bageni FC booed when Ciughes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tudor Prezan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 80 played minutes, Bageni FC's Eric Jivulescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ilie Domnescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Bageni FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ciughes the free kick. Manole Siclovan hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
