The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Horea Dobrotă quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ivan Saşca, made in the 3rd minute of the game. Emanuel Răduțu scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Grigore Stolojan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vali Andrițoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Grigore Stolojan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugen Dănălache in the 14th minute of play forced Renașterea Drumul Taberei's goalkeeper Grigore Stolojan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Grigore Stolojan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugen Dănălache in the 15th minute of play. Martin Tirulescus short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Alexandru Lucrețiu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugen Dănălache in the 23rd minute of play forced Renașterea Drumul Taberei's goalkeeper Grigore Stolojan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grigore Stolojan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vali Andrițoiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Tirulescu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Alexandru Lucrețiu made a huge save. In the 32nd minute, Emilian Dascălu sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Grigore Stolojan didn't even have to move. A sloppy throw-in by Ivan Saşca in the 34th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Horea Dobrotă. Emilian Dascălu was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 40th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Alexandru Lucrețiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Tirulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Grigore Stolojan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vali Andrițoiu in the 47th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vali Andrițoiu was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Vali Andrițoiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sepcile Rosii Cluj-Napoca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vali Andrițoiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Grigore Stolojan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Dănălache in the 55th minute of play. When Corneliu Todoran fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Renașterea Drumul Taberei's protests and gave Corneliu Todoran a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Corneliu Todoran got a free kick in the 56th minute. The audience held their breath when Emanuel Răduțu in the 58th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Grigore Stolojan's left hand side. Grigore Stolojan was a little too slow when Eugen Dănălache got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 59th minute. The score was now 0-2. Martin Tirulescu charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Martin Tirulescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th match minute, Renașterea Drumul Taberei was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Tirulescu to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the game, Martin Tirulescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Alexandru Lucrețiu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alexandru Lucrețiu came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Renașterea Drumul Taberei's Martin Tirulescu. But to his dismay, Martin Tirulescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. But to his dismay, Martin Tirulescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Martin Tirulescu scored 4-2 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alexandru Lucrețiu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alexandru Lucrețiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Tirulescu in the 95th minute of the match. The Renașterea Drumul Taberei players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
