Ionuț Drâmba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Bărbătescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vlad Mironescu struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Costică Diaconescu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for milan din banat. Sergiu Pelin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 21 minutes, Dinu Tecău mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Steaua FCSB and the milan din banat players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Steaua FCSB's Dinu Tecău got a free kick in the 44th minute. When Florin Dicu came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the milan din banat fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florin Dicu couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Costică Diaconescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cazimir Horațiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Ionuț Drâmba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mircea Bărbătescu's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. A collision led to milan din banat getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Gabriel Golumbean hit a great ball. 63 minutes into the match, Steaua FCSB's goal looked a bit too open when Cazimir Horațiu came free, but Costică Diaconescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Ionuț Drâmba managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Steaua FCSB's Mircea Bărbătescu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 81 minutes into the game, Mircea Bărbătescu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ionuț Drâmba. Mircea Bărbătescu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Mircea Bărbătescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Ionuț Drâmba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cazimir Horațiu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Steaua FCSB players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented milan din banat from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
