The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Matei Ivănescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Mlecanesti's Cătălin Piersic got a free kick in the 6th minute. Eugen Șeicaru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonard Pantelimon in the 8th minute. Costin Bivolaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Eugen Șeicaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andrei Buculeasa in the 13th minute of play forced Balauseri's goalkeeper Nae Scorţea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Mlecanesti fans' excitement grew in the 16th match minute when Mlecanesti's Matei Ivănescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Matei Ivănescu came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Mlecanesti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matei Ivănescu couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Mlecanesti's Eugen Șeicaru got control of the ball when Leonard Pantelimon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Costin Bivolaru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Șeicaru having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Andrei Buculeasa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mlecanesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 36th minute, Costică Jdeica hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matei Ivănescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute of the match, Leonard Pantelimon got a very nice opportunity to score, but Eugen Șeicaru was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Ilie Orășan made the kick off in the second half. Balauseri's Octav Ghețea got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Andrei Buculeasa hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Leonard Pantelimon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Eugen Șeicaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugen Șeicaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valeriu Stratulat in the 64th minute of the match. In the 66th minute of the game Ionică Pivniceru made a throw-in which Gelu Azamfirei played forward. Balauseri's Nae Scorţea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Balauseri from getting a goal against them. 69 minutes into the game, Balauseri's Leonard Pantelimon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eugen Șeicaru made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After 73 minutes, Mădălin Iuonaș mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mlecanesti and the Balauseri players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mădălin Iuonaș hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Nae Scorţea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrei Buculeasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, Balauseri's goalkeeper Nae Scorţea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matei Ivănescu. In the 87th minute Andrei Buculeasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Scorţea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But to his dismay, Costin Bivolaru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2.
