The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Șerban Vătăşel during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 6th minute, Șerban Vătăşel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mugurel Amânaloae recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ionică Mestecăneanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mihai Vişoianu struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Luca Duca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gainesti. In the 24th minute of the match, Mugurel Amânaloae tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Luca Duca saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Luca Duca didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mugurel Amânaloae went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Luca Duca made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Mihai Vişoianu sent off a good shot on target. Gainesti's Mihai Vişoianu got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mihai Vişoianu during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Gainesti getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Mihai Vişoianu hit a great ball. Augustin Avram kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. When Mihai Vişoianu came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Gainesti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mihai Vişoianu couldn't finish the play. Mugurel Amânaloae might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luca Duca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mugurel Amânaloae ran back to his position shaking his head. Mihai Vişoianu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luca Duca having to interfere. Mugurel Amânaloae received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Luca Duca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mugurel Amânaloae's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luca Duca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 50th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

54 minutes into the match, Adanoata's goal looked a bit too open when Mihai Vişoianu came free, but Luca Duca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 55 played minutes Adanoata got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Beligan. When Gainesti's Mugurel Amânaloae in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Adanoata's goalie prevented a goal. 57 minutes into the game, Claudiu Doroftei was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Adanoata's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gainesti the free kick. After 57 played minutes Adanoata got a freekick which was hit by Claudiu Doroftei. In the 58th minute, Mugurel Amânaloae got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luca Duca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugurel Amânaloae in the 60th minute of the match. A collision led to Gainesti getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Ovidiu Nițulescu hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 62nd minute by Ionică Mestecăneanu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After 64 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Adanoata! Luca Duca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mugurel Amânaloae, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Adanoata's Luca Duca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihai Vişoianu in the 73rd minute of play. After some careless play in the Gainesti defense, Ionică Mestecăneanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Murgan. The Gainesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Murgan should have stopped the shot. After having played for 77 minutes, Mihai Vişoianu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gainesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihai Vişoianu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ionică Mestecăneanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Gainesti's zone, Ionică Mestecăneanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Murgan came out of the goal and Ionică Mestecăneanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th match minute, Gainesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudiu Bîndean to maneuver through the defense. 94 minutes into the match, Adanoata's Stelian Rogozanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that David Murgan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Mugurel Amânaloae's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luca Duca was relentless in the 97th minute of the game. Mugurel Amânaloae received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 100th minute. Luca Duca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Gainesti had won after a very even match.
