After a defensive mix-up in CFR Cluj's zone, Răzvan Curuțiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcu Cucerzan came out of the goal and Răzvan Curuțiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Răzvan Curuțiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Marcu Cucerzan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. It was beautiful to see Fauresti's Olimpiu Hâncu in action when he in the 31st minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! CFR Cluj's Marcu Cucerzan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save CFR Cluj from getting a goal against them. 35 minutes into the game, Horia Grama cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ernest Rotariu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcu Cucerzan made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Niculae Baldovin sent off a good shot on target. Martin Corbuț hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Alexandru Panciu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ernest Rotariu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Răzvan Curuțiu to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandru Panciu in the 56th minute of play forced Fauresti's goalkeeper Ernest Rotariu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 56 minutes, Șerban Ciocoiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fauresti and the CFR Cluj players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 57 played minutes Fauresti got a freekick which was hit by Șerban Ciocoiu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horia Grama got free with Ernest Rotariu in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Răzvan Curuțiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fauresti's supporters rose to their feet, but Răzvan Curuțiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcu Cucerzan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. CFR Cluj's Marcu Cucerzan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niculae Baldovin in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute Niculae Baldovin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcu Cucerzan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marius Manole kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Niculae Baldovin struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Marcu Cucerzan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fauresti. When Răzvan Curuțiu came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Fauresti fans jumped to their feet. Olimpiu Hâncu's late challenge caught a CFR Cluj's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Olimpiu Hâncu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute, Olimpiu Hâncu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Șerban Ciocoiu was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Fauresti getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Șerban Ciocoiu hit a great ball. Niculae Baldovin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Marcu Cucerzan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marius Manole had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Fauresti supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching CFR Cluj's performance. The match ended with a win for CFR Cluj.
