Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Călin Muja was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Manole Ghiciușca capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Manole Ghiciușca really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Basarab Matei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mircea Stegaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Argo's Basarab Matei played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudor Ionașcu in the 22nd minute of play. Nucet's Călin Muja played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul Spineanu in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tudor Ionașcu in the 26th minute of play forced Argo's goalkeeper Basarab Matei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Nucet's Tudor Ionașcu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Basarab Matei made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Eric Foltea fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Argo's protests and gave Eric Foltea a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Nucet booed when Argo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Foltea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basarab Matei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Ionașcu in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute Manole Ghiciușca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Călin Muja saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Argo booed when Nucet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilian Pacuraru didn't get a good kick on the ball. The goalkeeper, Călin Muja, was totally fooled by Argo's Paul Spineanu, who 39 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Călin Muja came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Argo's Manole Ghiciușca. But to his dismay, Manole Ghiciușca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Nucet's Mircea Stegaru slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Basarab Matei. That made the score 3-2 after 72 minutes of play. In the 85th match minute, Nucet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iustinian Tender to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Argo defense, Mircea Stegaru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Basarab Matei. The Argo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Basarab Matei should have stopped the shot. During the 95th minute of the match Eric Foltea completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Eric Foltea a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Despite being the better team, Nucet failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
