Iordache Burdulea took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Costel Negruț. Varleni's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Radu Ghițulescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Costel Negruț having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Radu Ghițulescu notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Varleni's Costel Negruț. Costel Negruț was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Moise Ştoia charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Varleni's Costel Negruț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radu Ghițulescu in the 44th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

A collision led to Vargyas getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Radu Ghițulescu hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ionică Zgabei in the 56th minute of play forced Varleni's goalkeeper Costel Negruț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Varleni's goalkeeper Costel Negruț, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 64 minutes, Radu Ghițulescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vargyas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Radu Ghițulescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Varleni's Costel Negruț got control of the ball when Radu Ghițulescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 74 minutes, Costel Negruț successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With an all-out effort, Vargyas's Costel Negruț threw himself towards the right post 78 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Silviu Nicolau, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Varleni's Costel Negruț proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Varleni from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Radu Ghițulescu got free with Costel Negruț in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
