In the 6th minute of the match Felix Boieraș sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vasile Lucian skillfully saved the ball. Vasile Lucian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugen Gologan in the 12th minute of the match. Dan Balint might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laurențiu Simion. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dan Balint ran back to his position shaking his head. Cezar Zgrăbunţa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Laurențiu Simion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Laurențiu Simion made a huge save. If Codruț Obreja had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rapid Bucuresti's Cezar Zgrăbunţa got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cezar Zgrăbunţa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dan Balint kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. When Dan Balint came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Rapid Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dan Balint couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Laurențiu Simion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Walicki in the 54th minute of the match. Codruț Obreja might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vasile Lucian. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Codruț Obreja ran back to his position shaking his head. Dan Balint took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laurențiu Simion. Laurențiu Simion dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Dan Balint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurențiu Simion having to interfere. Dan Balint took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laurențiu Simion. Laurențiu Simion dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Vasile Lucian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Gologan in the 68th minute of play. Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurențiu Simion having to interfere. Laurențiu Simion didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cezar Zgrăbunţa went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Luncani's zone, Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laurențiu Simion came out of the goal and Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dan Balint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurențiu Simion having to interfere. Cezar Zgrăbunţa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Laurențiu Simion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 81 minutes, Dan Balint managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rapid Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Balint was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cezar Zgrăbunţa struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Laurențiu Simion didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid Bucuresti. Laurențiu Simion stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 92nd match minute, Rapid Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabríel Tamás to maneuver through the defense. Dan Balint recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rapid Bucuresti fully deserved thier win.
