A collision led to Rapid Bucuresti getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Edward Walicki hit a great ball. After having played for 8 minutes, Dan Balint managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rapid Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Balint was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dan Balint sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Rapid Bucuresti's Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș got a free kick in the 11th minute. Codruț Mirciulescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Balint, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th match minute, Solduba CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Isărescu to maneuver through the defense. Gabríel Tamás charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gabríel Tamás the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Solduba CSS booed when Rapid Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabríel Tamás didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Codruț Mirciulescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th match minute, Rapid Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edward Walicki to maneuver through the defense. After 35 minutes Rapid Bucuresti's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Radu Cămărășan who took care of the corner kick. If Dan Balint had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 36 minutes into the match, Solduba CSS's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Balint came free, but Codruț Mirciulescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Rapid Bucuresti fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Rapid Bucuresti's Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Dan Balint recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dan Balint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Mirciulescu having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Răzvan Copil stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș got free with Codruț Mirciulescu in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 57th minute Răzvan Copil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vasile Lucian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rapid Bucuresti's Dan Balint got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cezar Zgrăbunţa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Codruț Țepeluș hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Dan Balint fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codruț Mirciulescu having to interfere. Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Solduba CSS's zone, Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Codruț Mirciulescu came out of the goal and Marcelo-Luis Lăcătuș tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th match minute, Rapid Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdinand Stoiciu to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th match minute, Solduba CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narcis Durbacă to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Dan Balint took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Codruț Mirciulescu to make any attempt to save it. Pavel Turcescu kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Ionel Danciu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 90th minute. Rapid Bucuresti's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Rapid Bucuresti's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
