The supporters of ASU Politehnica Timisoara booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cătălin Cosâmbescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Golo Phoenix scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicodim Grămescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 13 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Iulian Coroian came free, but Vlad Covrig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute Cătălin Cosâmbescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Grămescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Nicodim Grămescu got control of the ball when Golo Phoenix tried to sneak it across the goal line. Octavian Sângeorzan kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Golo Phoenix kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nicodim Grămescu. That made the score 2-0 in the 26 minute of play. In the 29th minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Cătălin Cosâmbescu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Lucian Şimonca hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Ernest Aplugăriței put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Ernest Aplugăriței got a free kick in the 41st minute. ASU Politehnica Timisoara's Nicodim Grămescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save ASU Politehnica Timisoara from getting a goal against them. Golo Phoenix's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Nicodim Grămescu firmly grabbed it by the left post. 48 minutes into the match, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's goalkeeper Nicodim Grămescu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cătălin Cosâmbescu. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Iulian Coroian was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Golo Phoenix hit a great ball. Iulian Coroian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Vlad Covrig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute Iulian Coroian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vlad Covrig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adam Isaia hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the match, ASU Politehnica Timisoara's goal looked a bit too open when Calistrat Şerbănescu came free, but Nicodim Grămescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Golo Phoenix ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nicodim Grămescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Nicodim Grămescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cătălin Cosâmbescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 96 minutes, Nechifor Buciuceanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ASU Politehnica Timisoara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nechifor Buciuceanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of ASU Politehnica Timisoara for a fine match.
