The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Universitatea cluj's goal looked a bit too open when Matei Tender came free, but Emil Kociniewski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Arsenescu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristi Bădila in the 7th minute of the match. In the 12th minute Nae Costin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Kociniewski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lucian Baldovinescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vasile Arsenescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucian Baldovinescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Nae Costin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Kociniewski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristi Bădila who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Vasile Arsenescu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matei Tender in the 25th minute of play forced Universitatea cluj's goalkeeper Emil Kociniewski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 26 minutes, Nae Costin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cipanul FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nae Costin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Emil Kociniewski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nae Costin in the 30th minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Lucian Baldovinescu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Vasile Arsenescu, 1-0. 37 minutes into the match, Cipanul FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lucian Baldovinescu came free, but Vasile Arsenescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matei Tender in the 39th minute of play forced Universitatea cluj's goalkeeper Emil Kociniewski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rareș Trif got free with Vasile Arsenescu in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Universitatea cluj's Octavian Văcărescu was substituted for Ionel Trifu. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lucian Baldovinescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Emil Kociniewski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nae Costin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 63 minutes into the match, Cipanul FC's Nae Costin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emil Kociniewski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Thibaud Vranckx's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vasile Arsenescu was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Raúl Gonzáles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matei Tender fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emil Kociniewski having to interfere. Universitatea cluj's 程泉延 suffered a sore thigh after 92 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Raúl Gonzáles charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raúl Gonzáles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Raúl Gonzáles hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Vasile Arsenescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Damião in the 94th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucian Baldovinescu in the 96th minute of play forced Cipanul FC's goalkeeper Vasile Arsenescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
