Tudor Doibani made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Florin Triboi sent off a good shot on target. In the 19th minute, FC Rapid Bucuresti's Ovidiu Stângã seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ovidiu Stângã the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Rapid Bucuresti protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ovidiu Stângã had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Virgiliu Cretu walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 24th minute, Valera Deleanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nichifor Vornic recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Viorel Tabãrã came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the FC Rapid Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Viorel Tabãrã couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, Viorel Tabãrã got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that FC Rapid Bucuresti were the better team. FC Rapid Bucuresti's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
