But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stanislovas Strielkauskas couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ignas Drazdauskas during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ramūnas Knieža made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svajūnas Nainys in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Stasys Rudys got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Svajūnas Nainys made a kick off. In a very dangerous position, a player in NEMUNAS KAUNAS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 52nd minute. Penalty! If Stanislovas Strielkauskas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stasys Rudys in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Darius Marcišauskas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Tautrimas Pauža fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saravai's protests and gave Tautrimas Pauža a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute, Tautrimas Pauža hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darius Marcišauskas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanislovas Strielkauskas in the 67th minute of play. After 70 played minutes NEMUNAS KAUNAS got a freekick which was hit by Ignas Drazdauskas. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Ignas Drazdauskas took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Darius Marcišauskas to make any attempt to save it. Stasys Rudys sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. NEMUNAS KAUNAS's Ignas Drazdauskas got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stasys Rudys received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Darius Marcišauskas came out and tried to block the shot, but Stasys Rudys slotted it home off the left post making it 2-6 in the 86th minute. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Ignas Drazdauskas took a quick shot and it went in 2-7 without a chance for Darius Marcišauskas to make any attempt to save it. Henrikas Žemaitis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute, Stanislovas Strielkauskas reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Darius Marcišauskas. The goal made the score 2-8.
