Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jehovah Sitienei got the match started through his kick off. Haji Wangila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Fazul Songok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If John Matu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 9 minutes into the game, Pius Owino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Neen Sollars's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Walthamstow the free kick. Pius Owino hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. The supporters of Walthamstow booed when Neen Sollars was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin Maathai didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Walthamstow's Ali Ndereba in action when he in the 14th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Neen Sollars's Jehovah Sitienei got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jehovah Sitienei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, Jehovah Sitienei got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. John Matu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Fazul Songok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Walthamstow's John Matu in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Neen Sollars's goalie prevented a goal. If Naftali Kiptanui had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 37 minutes in the game, Jehovah Sitienei fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Emilio Ntalami having to interfere. Neen Sollars's Naftali Kiptanui got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Neen Sollars's zone, John Matu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fazul Songok came out of the goal and John Matu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dann Kigotho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fazul Songok having to interfere. Dann Kigotho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Fazul Songok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Neen Sollars defense, John Matu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fazul Songok. The Neen Sollars fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fazul Songok should have stopped the shot.
The wind increased when Dann Kigotho made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, John Matu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Fazul Songok, passed just outside the right post. John Matu struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Fazul Songok didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walthamstow. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naftali Kiptanui in the 65th minute of play forced Walthamstow's goalkeeper Emilio Ntalami to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jehovah Sitienei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emilio Ntalami having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Naftali Kiptanui in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emilio Ntalami saved Walthamstow from getting behind. Neen Sollars's Jehovah Sitienei got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Naftali Kiptanui sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fazul Songok made an important save on a dangerous shot by John Matu in the 79th minute. If John Matu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fazul Songok made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dann Kigotho in the 85th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Jehovah Sitienei ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emilio Ntalami was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. John Matu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 92ndth minute tested the skills of Fazul Songok when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erick Maiyo during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Neen Sollars's Erick Maiyo got a free kick in the 96th minute. If Dann Kigotho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Walthamstow supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Walthamstow would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
