An unexpectedly hard shot by Owen Sewell in the 7th minute of play forced The Gay Village's goalkeeper Jamie Leatherdale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 8 played minutes The Gay Village got a freekick which was hit by Chaz Monk. Jamie Leatherdale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Howard Carlick, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Owen Sewell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Jamie Leatherdale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, The Gay Village's Chaz Monk got a free kick in the 19th minute. Jamie Leatherdale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Owen Sewell in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 28th minute Owen Sewell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jamie Leatherdale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Ken Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Gay Village's supporters rose to their feet, but Ken Lester was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sean Hilton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tom Waller hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Sean Hilton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ken Lester in the 33rd minute of play. Howard Carlick hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 37thth minute of the game Ronan Whittaker who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Soho's Sean Hilton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mickey Cummings fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamie Leatherdale having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
If Owen Sewell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sean Hilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronan Whittaker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 54 played minutes Soho got a freekick which was hit by Howard Carlick. Owen Sewell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, The Gay Village's Robin Le Tissier got a free kick in the 65th minute. Ronan Whittaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as The Gay Village's Ronan Whittaker slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sean Hilton. That made the score 0-2 after 72 minutes of play. Sean Hilton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronan Whittaker in the 78th minute of play. Mickey Cummings sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute, Mickey Cummings left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Soho fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Soho's Mickey Cummings got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sean Hilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronan Whittaker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 96 minutes into the match, Soho's goal looked a bit too open when Ronan Whittaker came free, but Sean Hilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched The Gay Village eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
