In the 57th minute, Marty Bond ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Crispin Flack was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When Marty Bond came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Dartmouth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marty Bond couldn't finish the play. Marty Bond received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Crispin Flack tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The coaching staff of Dartmouth protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Stuart Bakewell had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of Dartmouth:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gateshead FC:s goal. Keanu Cardwell placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Dartmouth's Keiran Watson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to save Dartmouth from getting a goal against them. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Dartmouth fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gateshead FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
