Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Brynn Pollock started the match with the kick off. Gordon Hitchcock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Rhys Keyworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Yeadon's Bart Batty got control of the ball when Brynn Pollock tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bart Batty stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brynn Pollock's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. After having played for 19 minutes, Verne North managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yeadon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Verne North was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brynn Pollock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bart Batty having to interfere. Piers Crane could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Bart Batty made a huge save. Brynn Pollock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bart Batty having to make a save. Grimsby AFC's Piers Crane got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gordon Hitchcock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Verne North in the 39th minute of play forced Grimsby AFC's goalkeeper Rhys Keyworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Robin Hallam was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grimsby AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yeadon the free kick. In the 41st minute, Robin Hallam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rhys Keyworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gordon Hitchcock, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Rhys Keyworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Verne North in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute of the match Francis Ackroyd sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rhys Keyworth skillfully saved the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Verne North to strike the kick off in the second half. 60 minutes into the match, Yeadon's goal looked a bit too open when Piers Crane came free, but Bart Batty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gordon Hitchcock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rhys Keyworth having to interfere. Verne North was extremely unlucky when he, in the 64th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Bart Batty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brynn Pollock in the 66th minute of the match. Grimsby AFC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Verne North 68 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. 71 minutes into the match, Yeadon's goal looked a bit too open when Piers Crane came free, but Bart Batty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bart Batty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brynn Pollock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wally Salt's late challenge caught a Yeadon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wally Salt helped the player get up and apologised. Wally Salt hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Rodd Hitchcock charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodd Hitchcock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Grimsby AFC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Rodd Hitchcock hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the match, Grimsby AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Verne North came free, but Rhys Keyworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute Brynn Pollock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bart Batty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rhys Keyworth was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Francis Ackroyd. Wally Salt struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Bart Batty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grimsby AFC. In the 95th minute, Verne North got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Yeadon's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
