Rhys Keyworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnathon Milner, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute Johnathon Milner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rhys Keyworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wally Salt hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Brynn Pollock might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Quentin Skinner. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brynn Pollock ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Grimsby AFC booed when Crowborough City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Huey Kessler didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute of the match Francis Longley sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Quentin Skinner skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Grimsby AFC's Rodd Hitchcock got a free kick in the 32nd minute. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Mattias Cobb put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Rhys Keyworth. Johnathon Milner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Rhys Keyworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Robin Hallam was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grimsby AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Crowborough City the free kick. Robin Hallam hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 42 minutes into the match, Grimsby AFC's goalkeeper Rhys Keyworth had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mattias Cobb. The Grimsby AFC fans' excitement grew in the 43rd match minute when Grimsby AFC's Piers Crane looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Rodd Hitchcock hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Mattias Cobb could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Rhys Keyworth made a huge save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Brynn Pollock to make the kick off. Grimsby AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After having played for 71 minutes, Mattias Cobb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Crowborough City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mattias Cobb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Piers Crane in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Quentin Skinner, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Piers Crane let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 75th minute shot 2-2 at rihgt post. In the 81st minute Crowborough City were awarded a corner. Stan Lester went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Stan Lester got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rhys Keyworth quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Quentin Skinner took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brynn Pollock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnathon Milner in the 87th minute of play forced Grimsby AFC's goalkeeper Rhys Keyworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danny Norfolk charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Danny Norfolk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 89 played minutes Grimsby AFC got a freekick which was hit by Danny Norfolk. Stan Lester was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Crowborough City's goal looked a bit too open when Brynn Pollock came free, but Quentin Skinner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johnathan Jepson kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
