Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Vernon Kerr got the match started through his kick off. Vernon Kerr hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute, Ken Saxton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alfred Laycock was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jonny Clarke struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Scott Portway didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Keele United. An unexpectedly hard shot by Drew Ryder in the 22nd minute of play forced Great Addington United's goalkeeper Scott Portway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Keele United's Alfred Laycock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Colin Downing in the 26th minute of play. Drew Ryder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Scott Portway tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Great Addington United getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Wally Rocastle hit a great ball. In the 48thth minute of the game Vernon Kerr who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Keele United's Alfred Laycock was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Drew Ryder made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Keele United's goal looked a bit too open when Colin Downing came free, but Alfred Laycock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Keele United's Sean Westerby got a free kick in the 55th minute. After 59 played minutes Keele United got a freekick which was hit by Drew Ryder. Alfred Laycock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vernon Kerr, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Alfred Laycock had great luck who in the 62ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Vernon Kerr from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After 68 minutes, Ron Jackson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Keele United and the Great Addington United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Great Addington United booed when Keele United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ron Jackson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keele United's Alfred Laycock proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Keele United from getting a goal against them. After 72 minutes of play Keele United's Ron Jackson was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 73rd minute, Ron Jackson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Great Addington United's Scott Portway played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonny Clarke in the 76th minute of play. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Great Addington United's goalkeeper Scott Portway, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonny Clarke in the 85th minute of play forced Great Addington United's goalkeeper Scott Portway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Great Addington United's Vernon Kerr got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barry Crocker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Scott Portway tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Great Addington United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
