Panos Karelas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Petros Patemtzis in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Aggelos Samanoglou managed to get in a good position for a shot. Πανιώνιος's supporters rose to their feet, but Aggelos Samanoglou was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Panos Karelas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 43 minutes into the match, Πανιώνιος's goal looked a bit too open when Thanos Kapsimalis came free, but Apostolos Kefalopoulos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
