The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Chatziantoniou Apostolou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lakis Rakkas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Giannis Kapopoulos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes into the match, Lakonia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aggelos Leontokardos came free, but Giannis Kapopoulos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 9th minute Aggelos Leontokardos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giannis Kapopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miltos Spanopoulos got free with Nikolas Letsos in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 16th minute, Christodoulos Koutras got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miltos Spanopoulos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Nikolas Letsos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Chatziantoniou Apostolou sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Lakis Rakkas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Lakis Rakkas came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Lion of Serres 1964 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lakis Rakkas couldn't finish the play. Giannis Kapopoulos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lakis Rakkas in the 34th minute of the match. After 38th play minutes Christodoulos Koutras shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Nikolas Letsos and just under the crossbar into goal. After 45 minutes of play, Lion of Serres 1964's Aggelos Leontokardos made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Giannis Kapopoulos was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Lakis Rakkas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

After 56 played minutes Lion of Serres 1964 got a freekick which was hit by Menios Triantafyllopoulos. 62 minutes into the game, Lion of Serres 1964's Konstantinos Bakakos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Giannis Kapopoulos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Dimos Papadamos's late challenge caught a Lion of Serres 1964's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dimos Papadamos helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Lion of Serres 1964 booed when Lakonia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimos Papadamos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 73rd minute, when Lion of Serres 1964's Charis Kebakopoulos after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Giannis Kapopoulos in Lakonia FC's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. 75 minutes into the game, Aggelos Leontokardos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lion of Serres 1964's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lakonia FC the free kick. After 75 played minutes Lion of Serres 1964 got a freekick which was hit by Aggelos Leontokardos. In the 78th match minute, Lion of Serres 1964 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Konstantinos Bakakos to maneuver through the defense. Panagiotis Markos hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After having played for 81 minutes, Christodoulos Koutras managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lakonia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christodoulos Koutras was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lakonia FC's Giannis Kapopoulos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lakis Rakkas in the 83rd minute of play. 84 minutes into the game, Konstantinos Bakakos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lion of Serres 1964's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lakonia FC the free kick. In the 84th minute, Konstantinos Bakakos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Konstantinos Bakakos succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-3 in the 88th playminute. Aggelos Leontokardos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giannis Kapopoulos having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Lakis Rakkas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Giannis Kapopoulos. That made the score 2-4 in the 95 minute of play. The Lion of Serres 1964 players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
