When Mika Riippa came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Vepo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mika Riippa couldn't finish the play. Aarno Leinonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iiro Rovio in the 10th minute of play. Aarno Leinonen made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Mika Riippa sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 14th minute of the game. One of FC Barcelona:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vepo:s goal. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Vepo's Terho Lahtela got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Aarno Leinonen. Iiro Rovio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iiro Rovio in the 28th minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Aarno Leinonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute Vepo were awarded a corner. Terho Lahtela went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Terho Lahtela got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Aarno Leinonen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mika Riippa in the 37th minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Aarno Leinonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aarno Leinonen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mika Riippa went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Mika Riippa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in FC Barcelona's zone, Iiro Rovio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aarno Leinonen came out of the goal and Iiro Rovio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ossi Leppiniemi was the one to do the kick off. If Mika Riippa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iiro Rovio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Aarno Leinonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ossi Leppiniemi kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Vepo's Mika Riippa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aarno Leinonen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 65 minutes into the match, Iiro Rovio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aarno Leinonen. FC Barcelona's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Iiro Rovio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. 69 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Iiro Rovio came free, but Aarno Leinonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mika Riippa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Vepo's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
